With a career spanning 30 years and over 20 albums, Charlie Hunter consistently ups his game as an innovative writer and bandleader. He has worked with the likes of Norah Jones, Mos Def, John Mayer, DAngelo, Kurt Elling and countless others. He is widely considered the authority on the seven- and eight-string guitar, and continues to stun audiences with his ability to simultaneously bust out tasty bass parts, melodic leads and swinging rhythms.

Hunter has previously recorded for the venerable Blue Note label, Concord, Ropeadope, and others. His current ventures are steered by his motivation to release music that most inspires him. Critics have touted his genius technique, but it’s his profound artistic sensibility that propels his original music. Hunter’s signature style of writing and performing has secured his place as one of today’s great guitarists.

On Saturday, July 6 Charlie Hunter appears in two special collaborative performances: with R&B guitar master Jubu Smith; and with jazz/blues vocalist Candice Ivory and harmonica ace Nic Clark.

Jubu Smith‘s journey in music exemplifies extraordinary talent and versatility. From his impactful role as Tony Toni Toné’s guitarist to touring with Whitney Houston, he has captivated audiences globally. Collaborating with legends like Luther Vandross and Mary J. Blige, Jubu’s influence spans decades. Now, alongside Calvin Napper and Charlie Hunter, he releases Jubu, an innovative groove-guitar album under Little Village, solidifying his status as a luminary in the industry.

On Sunday, July 7 Charlie Hunter appears on the Crossroads Stage in an acoustic guitar set paying tribute to the pioneering blues/ragtime guitarist Blind Blake, with guest vocals by Candice Ivory and harmonica by Nic Clark
