Cruisin’ to Memphis is a floating celebration of the region’s up-and-coming as well as established blues and soul artists. Two bands and two solo-acoustic acts will compete in the Journey to Memphis (J2M) Finals, with the winners advancing to the International Blues Challenge next January in Memphis. Meanwhile, artists who have previously competed in Memphis will take the stage alongside award-winning Texas guitar slinger Jonn Del Torro Richardson and the J2M Allstars (Ty Curtis, Johnny Wheels, Rae Gordon, Brady Goss and more). This will be a blues party not to be missed!

BAYOU BLUES CRUISE

Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble • Bon Bon Vivant • QuEasy Gumbo

Join Mysti Krewe of Nimbus and Cascade Zydeco on the Bayou Blues Cruise, rockin’ to the grooves of Gulf Coast zydeco, R&B, roots-rock and funk. Zydeco legend Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble rev up the dance floor on the middle deck. On the upper deck, New Orleans’ Bon Bon Vivant pay homage to the bawdy Crescent City sound while infusing a mysterious Klezmer spark, dark ballads and up-tempo dance grooves. Down below, Portland’s QuEasy Gumbo (featuring Jimmy Russell and Sean Badders of Quick & Easy Boys, plus Louisiana ex-pat keyboardist Steve Kerin) dive into funky NOLA classics.

A Blues Fest Cares Cruise, benefiting Meals on Wheels People

The Chris O’Leary Band • Dustbowl Revival • Tevis Hodge Jr. & Johnny Ward

Hop aboard this benefit cruise for Meals on Wheels People, as Northern Californian roots dance party band Dustbowl Revival revs things up on the middle deck. On the lower deck, Levon Helm band alumnus and harmonica ace Chris O’Leary and band crank out classic Chicago blues. Guitarist/vocalist Tevis Hodge Jr. and harmonica ace Johnny Ward serve up Delta blues classics on the upper deck.

Set sail aboard this benefit cruise for The JWF Musician Health & Services Program. Guitarist Sonny Hess and Northwest Women Rhythm & Blues present a stellar lineup of blues women, including Portland’s powerful Lady Kat and Lisa Mann, and vocalists Erin Wallace and Nayibe Rojas. They’ll be joined on the upper deck by vocalist/guitar virtuosos Mary Flower with her trio. On the lower level up-and-coming young blues woman Taylor Newville teams up in a new collaboration with award-winning guitarist/vocalist Ty Curtis.

Wellness on the Waterfront

In partnership with our friends at Knot Springs, Portland’s wellness social club centered on health and good times, Wellness On The Waterfront will offer daily morning wellness classes at the Front Porch Stage. Classes are 60 minutes and start at 9:30 am.

Cardio Dance gives you an opportunity to connect with your body, move with your breath and raise your heart rate. Start with mindful warm-ups and evolve to choreographed movement matched with song. Throughout this guided class, you will feel empowered to move in ways that feel powerful to you. No previous dance experience needed; simply bring a pair of shoes you can move in.

This class will be accompanied by three world-class percussionists from Portland Afro-pop group, Jujuba: Nojeem (Nigerian master talking-drummer), Alex (Ghanaian master drummer), and Jeff (supporting percussion).
