The Norman Sylvester Band & PDX Guests

Main Stage

2:00 PM

The Norman Sylvester Band has played their unique showcase of blues, R&B, soul & funk for over 40 years in the Northwest! They were at the first Waterfront Blues Festival (originally Rose City Festival) in 1987, when a promoter gave them the opportunity to open for BB King at his performance at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall & then again at Eugene’s Cuthbert Amphitheater. Since then, they have shared the stage with James Cotton, Tower of Power, Buddy Guy, Five Blind Boys of Alabama, Peter Frampton and many more. The band tours regionally, playing festivals, private & corporate parties, schools, elder residence facilities and all sorts of venues & benefits throughout the northwest.

Norman “Boogie Cat” Sylvester turned 80 this year and isn’t stopping yet. His amazing vocalist & daughter Lenanne Miller joins him on stage as well as his bass man for all 40+ years, Rob Shoemaker, keyboard player Jeff Otto, on drums Darryl Stiff and sax sensations Renato Caranto & Peter Moss.
