Taylor Newville & Ty Curtis

Day 01

Main Stage

2:00 PM

Taylor Newville has a natural approach to music and is a genuine lover of the blues. She sings with conviction and plays a mean guitar drawing off influences such as Sue Foley, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, Shannon Curfman and Samantha Fish. She was a recent finalist for The Journey to Memphis Blues competition at the 2023 Waterfront Blues Festival and was recently nominated for the 2023 Cascade Blues Association Muddy Awards for Best New Artist. Her 2023 EP entitled Let The Good Times Begin has received high marks from Portland blues legend Norman Sylvester, who says Taylor “delivers phenomenal licks.” She continues to receive praise from blues lovers and to build her fanbase.

Recently she has partnered up with Ty Curtis (vocalist/guitarist/songwriter) who is best known for his soulful vocals and powerful guitar skills. In addition to performing in the Pacific Northwest, Ty has also spent time in Austin, Texas, which is widely recognized as the “Live Music Capital of the World.” He has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the blues genre, including Samantha Fish, Robert Cray, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Chris Cain, Roy Rogers, Lloyd Jones and many more. His captivating live performances have garnered him a devoted fan base. With the release of his newest album, entitled Ascendant Blues, Ty continues to captivate listeners and push boundaries with blues music. The late great Paul Delay said it best about Ty Curtis, “he plays it straight ahead and from the heart.”

If you’ve never had the pleasure of hearing Ty and Taylor together as a blues duo, prepare yourselves; you’re about to embark on a memorable journey. They are performing only on the Sail on Sister Blues Cruise (Saturday, July 7), benefiting the JWF Musician Health & Services Program.
