Psychedelic Soul Revue

Main Stage

2:00 PM

Kris Deelane, leader of Portland’s white-hot Motown/Stax ensemble, Kris Deelane & The Hurt, and bandleader of the annual Next Waltz weekend at Alberta Rose Theatre, takes a side shimmy into ‘60s DayGlo with her new Psychedelic Soul Revue. Ride a booty-shakin’ fuzzed-out fantasy flight to San Francisco’s Summer of Love (and groove). Get on the plane and let this crew move both your Top and your Bottom!

The Psychedelic Soul Revue front line is a who’s who of Portland’s best up on the center microphone. Featured vocalists include Blues Fest veterans Dan Berkery (Rose City Kings, Kolvane), LaRhonda Steele (Steele Family Band), Arietta Ward (Doo Doo Funk All Stars), the funky athleticism of Sean Badders (Quick & Easy Boys, Queasy Gumbo), Portland’s’ powerhouse vocal twins Jenni and Amanda Price (Acoustic Minds) with Kris and The Lady Parts (Kimberly June, Nycci Vargas, Jenny Thomas) laying down the backing vocals and cameos.

The stellar backing band features the Next Waltz rhythm section of Ned Failing (Floydian Slips, Low Bar Chorale) on drums, Greg Hyatt on bass, Mark Bowden (Karen Lovely) on guitar and Muddy Award winner Steve Kerin (Too Loose Cajun Band, Bayou Boyz) on keys. Rounding out the horns are Kyle Gemberling on trumpet and Sean McLean (World’s Finest, Vibetenders) on sax.
